Appointments & availability

+ - Are you a walk-in clinic?

To ensure that every patient receives the dedicated time and focused care they deserve, we are an appointment-only clinic. This allows our practitioners to prepare fully for your arrival. If you are in need of support, please reach out to our team, and we will work to find the earliest possible slot for you.

+ - Do you offer online appointments?

Yes, we are happy to offer the flexibility of online consultations. However, where viable, our practitioners do prefer to meet new patients face-to-face for their initial assessment to build a stronger personal connection. Please note that certain specialised treatments, such as rTMS (Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation), must be delivered in person at our London centre. Your practitioner will be happy to discuss the best approach for your specific needs.

+ - Do I need a referral to see you?

No, you do not need a GP referral to access our services. We believe that your mental health shouldn’t have to wait on administrative hurdles, so we welcome self-referrals. You can take the first step today by calling our team directly on 020 7580 4224.

+ - Do you have a waiting list? How long will I have to wait to see someone?

We understand that when you reach out for help, you want to be seen as soon as possible. One of the primary benefits of private care at our centre is the absence of a waiting list. In most cases, you can expect to see a practitioner within 3-5 days of your initial enquiry.

Choosing the right care

+ - What is the process for booking, and do I need to know which consultant I want to see?

Please don’t worry if you aren’t sure who to see – that is what we are here for. You can call us on 020 7580 4224 or email our centre to speak with our highly trained support staff. They will listen to your needs and guide you toward the practitioner who is the best fit for you.

Once a practitioner is chosen, we will walk you through the booking process, help you with registration forms, and provide clear information on the costs of follow-up care.

+ - Can I request a specific consultant?

Absolutely. We understand how important it is to feel a sense of trust and “fit” with your consultant. If you have a specific practitioner in mind, please let us know. If we feel another member of our team has a specialism that might better serve your specific concerns, we will gently share that recommendation with you so you can make an informed choice.

+ - Can you prescribe medication?

Yes, our psychiatrists are medical doctors and are able to prescribe medication if they believe it is an appropriate and helpful part of your treatment plan. Please note that while our psychologists and psychotherapists provide essential talking therapies, they do not have prescribing authority.

+ - What is the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist?

The most basic difference between the two is that a psychiatrist is a registered medical doctor who can prescribe medication to the patients while a psychologist is not. Psychiatry is a branch of medicine that specializes in curing mental health disorders using medication if necessary. A psychiatrist goes to a medical school and will spend at least a year working in physical medicine. In contrast, psychology focusses on formative influences that determine a person’s behaviour such as their emotional history and sociological background. A psychologist will help patients understand their actions and reactions so that they may modify their behaviour to reduce distress. A psychologist starts his or her training with a psychology degree and goes on to higher studies but has no medical background.

At The London Psychiatry Centre we have a team of experienced psychiatrists and psychologists who work together to offer a combination of services aimed at improving your mental health.

Fees & insurance

+ - Do you accept private healthcare insurance?

The London Psychiatry Centre operates as a self-pay service. While we do not bill insurers directly, we provide receipts that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Because every policy is different, we strongly recommend checking your insurer’s specific reimbursement terms before booking your appointment.

+ - What payment methods do you accept, and do you offer payment plans?

We aim to make the administrative side of your care as smooth as possible. We accept all major credit and debit cards, bank transfers, and offer secure online payment links via email or text. At this time, we do not offer payment plans; payment is required either at the time of booking or on the day of service, depending on the treatment you are receiving.

+ - How much does it cost to see a private psychiatrist?

Fees for private psychiatric care in the UK vary based on the consultant’s specific expertise and years of experience. At The London Psychiatry Centre, our fees reflect the world-class level of care and clinical excellence our specialists provide. You can find our most up-to-date fees here, and our team is always available to clarify costs over the phone.
